In my dream world, I would subscribe to such a "Magazin" and get it posted on my home feed. And to discover new stuff, I could simply search for a keyword and get a fitting magazine or community recommended.
Yes, that's exactly how it will work, see the screenshot below. Magazines will appear as groups if you follow them within Mastodon, with posts looking just like Mastodon posts.
At the moment there is just too much traffic overwhelming the Kbin servers, which weren't expecting this amount of attention due to the Reddit implosion.
Once things calm down and the developers are able to get more development done, it should work the way you are suggesting.

Reddit was, for a lot of stuff, a really nice user experience. Lots of subs where the primary point of contact for their respective communities. If we could get these communities away from spez and his cronies, I'd be delighted.
@mitha Following a magazine or a user is as easy, as @feditips describes. Just remember the pattern @[email protected]
Search by keyword does not work well, since your server can only search instances, it knows about (obviously).
