Looking into this #lemmy thing and I'm not thrilled at the amount of servers on join-lemmy.org that explicitly allow piracy and some of the more questionable types of pornography.

Not getting good vibes from it as a whole - seems like it maybe grew a bit from what got banned from #reddit over the years?

@empathe ye it feels like it's gonna be the wildwest for a bit until resposible fediverse moderators shut out some of the more questionable instances from federating

@empathe

Mastodon has, by instances de-federating offending instances, built a tolerable environment. I can watch the global feed and not require a barf bag.

Lemmy is experiencing a ton of growth that's going to shine a huge light on it. I predict drama and ultimately some sort of consensus set of instances that agree not to connect to the weird. If that ends up being called #Lemmy or #Beehaw or #kbin, I don't know.

For what it's worth I joined the sdf instance because I trust SDF implicitly.

The drama has already started and I've experienced parts of it.

#FactResistance seems to be at least a part of the reason for the drama getting louder.

#LemmyDrama

@empathe That can’t change until it goes a bit more mainstream. I hope others will join and create better instances.

Remember. #Lemmy is just open source software. The actual community aspects, are up to the users. I hope more users will join to provide a better experience.
