i am now on hugeminis
hopefully they are less shit than greenstuffworld
i am now on hugeminis
hopefully they are less shit than greenstuffworld
yes
good xD
hrmph they also carry green stuff
kinda don't wanna buy given my recent experience
got a smattering of tufts and flowers and stuff for terrain decoration
no tax or shipping either. hopefully i can get usps shipping xD
the big bottle is glaze medium so i can try that
i mean washes fucked me up but might as well keep trying other techniques xD
also got a white primer and a few other varnishes to see if i like those
there's nothing WRONG with the vallejo ultra matt... i don't think
but maybe these will alter the final look more significantly
also doubled up on a few colors i really liked, like their bloody red
got some purple, another green, and a fancy ass REFRACTIVE green
the length of these cardboard boxes that can hold magic cards is gonna differ probably, but the width is basically perfect for 4 row
just sayin' if you indulged in too much cardboard crack like i used to
every 40k space marine vs argument in
/r/whowouldwin: "space marines stomp respect the humble space marine read your lore you fukken nerd in this ted talk i will..."
/r/40klore: "is the space marine named? is he wearing his helmet?"
i tried to reconcile the populations on hive worlds and crusade casualties and stuff the other day
that was a mistake
they're arguing if codexes are lore
i dunno man. if that doesn't count as lore what does
"they changed the lore later" is valid
"i don't feel like the swarmlord is that powerful" is like, not really that valid
take it up with gw xD
i think one of the funniest things about 40k is the homogeneity. especially since it's sci-fi
a counterinsurgency in real life modern terms only needs like two dozen insurgents per 1000 populace
in 40k population scale and modern tech (everyone running around with lasguns) that ratio is prolly way lower
even the cults don't operate right, they're described as infesting whole planets/ships
bruh that place is fucked way before infestation levels
i really REALLY don't like the guardsmen minis because of their uhhh
stylistic inspiration source
for the most part. some of them look like normal ww2 soldiers or whatever
these poor bastards tho
gonna get wrecked by abaddon or something
there is a weird contingent of 40kers who insist you must paint your minis to play (casually)
lol lmao
it would not surprise me if the majority of people who are in 40k at all are just hobbyists and don't play
just read lore and paint and shit
now i just wanna get real good at painting minis
like fucking S-tier level shit. just a massive collection of fallout warfare minis beautifully painted
and then show up at my lgs with a totally unpainted 40k kill team like sup bitches
"IT'S BASIC RESPECT TO PAINT FOR YOUR OPPONENT"
your color choices are sad and you disgust me
respect-- go strip your minis and try again nerd
i have one unpainted mini left
the zetan
do i paint him today. hrmmmm 🤔
i feel like yes, because i have my white primer and white (and bone white! and off white!) paints now
but also if i don't get my minis tomorrow that will leave me with zero unpainted minis
why does that make my palms itch lololol
7 of the 9 coming tomorrow are named npcs tho, so i'd also like to slow down a bit and take my time
and not do nora 2.0 lololol
i had this idea last night that i wanted to handmake a power noodles stand
i dunno how imma do that, but it would also give me an excuse to hang leds in it
power noooooods 🍜
and choice chops 🥩
honestly it's weird i never bought this book
i kinda wanna expand it. the in-game diamond city is obviously super compressed because video game, but i imagine just a buncha lawn chairs and bleachers and scattered tables with food and shit
maybe takahashi hired some helping human hands as well xD
also like, i realize most mini/terrain builders /i've/ seen don't really use actual flowing fabrics and stuff?
they all almost always use stiff materials that look like it, and then paint them that way
why tho
i could just use cloth for the awnings xD
i'm not sure how to make that neon sign
do they even make lettering that small. how would i mimic the font/style
i feel like the big stylistic things here are:
1) the big tower shape of the power plant,
2) the awnings covering the counters/stools,
3) TAKAHASHI! and
4) that neon sign
the rest is all secondary
the power connectors (and wires?) might be harder than i think
the wires would also interfere with gameplay if you wanted to play with it
i kinda want takahashi and a mr handy in there now
maybe it's ALL run by robots xD
this probably works better as a diorama
gotta wait for my display cases to arrive so i can take more precise measurements
I installed the etsy app on my phone
This is a mistake but
green stuff world canceled my order at least
but they also screwed me on $1.90. their response email was also some condescending bullshit on how exchange rates work which, you know, was only part of that trainwreck
whatever, fuck it never buying any of their shit
like why you fuckers
now i know why your company is called gsw
me: "i suck at painting faces. impossible. detailing too difficult"
also me: "i could paint these boxes and arcade machines with fallout in-universe themed shit no problem"
usps says my fallout minis are coming today
i dunno if they boxes are small enough to fit in the secure box outside so i should keep an eye out on that
might tho, since the minis are small and unlike the starter kit this doesn't include a buncha play manuals and wide stuff
"but the bolter is fully automatic!"
that just means space marines are even more incompetent for taking long range shots on fully automatic
