Two good wire joining wrap techniques I found on Tumblr. One's the red set, one's the blue set, sorry they're interleaved it was a gif. But they're definitely going into my how-to-wrap-wire brain toolkit.

When you just twist ends of a wire together, that's called a rat-tail joint.
