Socialized with some friends last night and my wife was so comically proud of me for going out and socializing that it was faintly insulting and I will say something about it when I finish recovering and hiding in my office for a few days

My husband's relatives always make such a huge deal over me when I manage to show up for family events that it makes me incredibly self-conscious and even less likely to show up at future family events.

I know they are trying to express support for me, but it just makes me feel awful.

@Popehat I hear you. I hate going out and socializing anymore! My home is a very comfy and beautiful sanctuary with a garden full of beautiful flowers, trees and critters. Why would I want to leave? Well, I don’t. Or rarely do. Everyone comes to us anyway because it’s nicer here, the wine cellar is full and the food is not too shabby either. When we DO go out, my husband just lets me enjoy myself - or not.
