@damnbear: That cable is not properly queer. It's rolled so straight it can't possibly have the queer CS twist in it.
@riley @damnbear true, true...
And it's not even havibg enough pins!!!

@damnbear that's not an #IDE connector, as it only has 30 leads and 30 pins!!!!!
@damnbear Rainbow cable, not ribbon cable.
@damnbear Looks more like a floppy connector :(

@kkarhan @damnbear Hmm, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I still have a round IDE cable with rainbow leads somewhere.

@jernej__s @damnbear there are several of those since the @Raspberry_Pi since Version 2 has a 40-pin #GPIO which non-coincidentially has the same pin spacing and even before, I also do fondly remember those #IDE cables...

@kkarhan

MiniIDE being *bigger* than IDE doesn't make any sense. Whoever decided "let's design an IDE-like connector with 4 more pins than actual IDE-) connector and name it *Mini*IDE" was high on LSD…

@jernej__s @damnbear

@devnull @kkarhan @damnbear MiniIDE is bigger because it includes power pins.

@jernej__s Yeah, But that's not my point… I'm not asking why it's bigger.

I mean "Mini $whatever" for something that is actually bigger than "$whatever" is a misnomer

Mini litteraly means smaller than…
There's a reason why any other connector uses "Mini" prefix for "smaller than what is considered full size connector". Be it Jack, USB, HDMI, DisplayPort…

@kkarhan @damnbear

@devnull @kkarhan @damnbear Well, mini IDE is smaller than regular IDE, despite having more pins…

@kkarhan @damnbear yeah, I know IDE is 40 pins
@damnbear But that’s not enough pins for IDE…
@damnbear 30-pin IDE is unusual. ;-)

@kkarhan @damnbear Today I threw away a 40pin (80wire) and 50pin.
@kkarhan @damnbear I mean, they're in the eWaste box if you need one. I also finally decided that zero is now the correct number of Centronics parallel printer cables for me to keep on hand.

@lopta @damnbear yikes...

I just tend to reuse those and use said connectors for DIY docks on projects since getting them is still easy and for stupid stuff that's fine...

@damnbear where can I buy this and what can I plug it into?
@damnbear nerds have been gay AF since the beginning of time.
