So what I thought I had working.. I didn't have working! No wonder my instance didn't get any updates for like 3 months.. Theres lots of configuration that is wrong mostly #DNS for my external vps to my internal instances! I thought it was the instances itself turns out it was me.. When you add the correct ip's things sort of just flow. I know have to start walking through all of this to really understand what I think I understand and clearly don't.
