am i in power armor? usually not, but if i'm in some x-01 i could prolly tank some bolter hits, especially if they're oblique

i also have magic don't let me die drugs so unless they one shot me i'm gonna keep going

they're prolly better off not charging me. best chance is to pick me off with a bolter shot to the noggin at range

the 40ker war nerds tell me space marines can run upwards of 45mph

unfortunate for them since i can run faster, and sprint even faster for a limited time

i am willing to cede this point somewhat because there is nothing specifically in fallout lore about any of the player characters being able to move this fast, and that's calculated from gameplay/perk/mutation effects

taking this into account i can probably only keep up with a standard space marine for a few minutes at a time at best

that said even given the height of space marines in lore, they should not be able to biomechanically reach those speeds

if they come into the fallout universe i feel they should be capped to fallout universe human speed limitations, and if i enter the 40k universe i should outrun them xD

it'd be funny if space marines achieved that linear top speed by /bounding/, although i would argue that would be tactically terrible for them, since i could then shoot them while they are in the air and unable to maneuver

do space marines retreat? how many do i have to kill before they do? how furiously do they fight to recover their dead?

could they force me into a defensive position by just wounding my squad?

these are much more interesting questions that raw power level tbh

also how perceptive are space marines

they walk around in big clunky armor with bright colors emblazoned all over, typically

i am dressed in muted browns and greens to camo with (XXth century) northeastern post-apocalyptic wilderness

apparently they have a bunch of lifesign hookups with themselves and their squaddies

some have "preysight" which sounds like thermal

also... kill counters? okay lol

so... lots of lore inconsistency from the novels, is what i'm getting lol

however, it does appear that space marines are still indeed human and you can divide their attention

so even tho a terminator suit might be feeding them information they might be overly focused on other crap going around them

this is a funny excerpt and more or less makes me think terminator armor allows them to fire like fo76-style vats

just point at where the fucking suit telemetry tells you and pull the damn trigger xD

i feel like their disdain for long range precision shooting will be their downfall if my rifleman detects them far out

also how much ammo does a space marine carry

i feel like they waste a lot and cannot possibly physically carry much

SPACE MARINE SPRUES COME WITH BOLTER MAG POUCHES AND SHIT

PLAYERS JUST DON'T USE THEM??? LOLOL

i've reminded myself that fallout lasers in lore are actually ridiculously powerful, and would not actually just poke a tiny hole in a space marine
like one wastelander with a laser pistol would gib a space marine level of overpowered

honestly the biggest problem here is that i have high charisma and intelligence and i should be able to roll to convert the space marines to my side

because fuck the emperor

also like i didn't build my current character this way, but what if i went full strength/endurance/agility build

like i literally rip deathclaws apart with my bare hands

what if i'm a walking uber ork in human skin and they don't even know

realizing a lore accurate assaultron might be able to squad wipe space marines
Respect Space Marines (Warhammer 40k)

# [Respect Space Marines](https://imgur.com/a/LjftdWc) >[***"They shall be my finest...

reddit

space marine spit is acidic and can burn through human tissue

apparently this is book lore canon

some of these feats are not even possible, and are just the authors being weirdos

alright this one is problematic lol

again, makes no sense, but whatever. fine

so that round going through your helmet is still going through your helmet?

fine by me xD

this is like... not even impressive given the universe lolol
see, this is much more impressive

there is a story about an unarmored space marine literally face tanking a heavy machine gun

i am going to disregard that because the power level of that instance far exceeds even the other batshit anecdotes

it would be like writing a novel where batman arm wrestles superman and wins

no tricks, no preparation, author just decided batman needed superman level strength for some reason

their armor is weak at the joints. this is painted as a plus because a marine got shot in the knee and stumbled but recovered

the point is your armor has weak points even beyond your eyes tho xD

there is a story about a space marine annoyed instead of injured when someone explodes his flamer and sets his head on fire

i simply wish to point out that in an official warhammer episode a blood angel had his flamer explode and he literally lost his left arm lol

in that show their captain also lost his left arm and there's a funny moment when they meet

two armored space marines, having lost their left arms

a lot of these feats are just the authors not understanding how like... basic physics works lol

is there magic in 40k. like for space marines. literal magic. because that's what you'd need

like consistently shooting a coin at 3km is not just space marines being super cool and having good sensors

there's... a lot to unpack in that kind of thing

being gyrostabilized like... no lol

i see why the 40k nerds say the bolter is like an automatic grenade launcher

these book authors are wild lol they treat each bolter round like a grenade

not a mini-grenade

like an obscenely big grenade

i am not going to even discuss the chainsword because that thing makes no sense

in fairness fallout has rippers and chainsaws xD

nothing about the bolter makes sense

it is just a magic weapon

it's supposed to be super efficient gyrojet futuristic bolter but also it's damn heavy and a normal person can't lift it

😖

there is literally no reason the bolter should be heavy

you literally designed it to be all cool so it doesn't have to be

@worthlessbums sure, but the imperium know fuck all about making guns, so they can't make it better.

Also, to improve it is heresy.

Weeeeeee!

@DarkestKale how are they making all their guns

@worthlessbums old factories (STCs) that they treat as sacred objects rather than as actual machines.

They don't oil machinery, they 'apply the sacrament' to it. They don't know how machines work, they have rituals of 'press the sacred iconography' (ie: buttons)

@DarkestKale are you telling me 40k years into the future and mankind can't make basic fucking slug throwers

@worthlessbums

... Well...

@DarkestKale HOW ARE THEY MAKING TERMINATOR ARMOR

IF THEY CAN'T MAKE BALLISTIC FIREARMS

@worthlessbums they aren't.

It's all relics.

Did you not realise this?

@worthlessbums every marine they lose is BAD.

Not just the person, but the armour, the weaponry, etc.

The geneseed.

@worthlessbums like, it's a falling empire. They're running on leftovers.

@worthlessbums in universe, rediscovering a single STC that makes tanks, etc, could swing the whole thing

That's what happened (iirc) with Baneblades. They found an STC

@DarkestKale i may not have to go to skyrim, i may have to fucking invade 40k
@worthlessbums lol. Do I need to dig up the jumpchain docs for you?

@worthlessbums
https://www.reddit.com/r/40kLore/comments/ar6ga8/baneblade_stc/

(blah, I can't remember what the deal is, but there's a bit of 'lol, the Baneblade was a light tank in the Dark Age of Technology' guff)

Baneblade STC

If the STC for the Baneblade lists it as a 'Light Tank' from DAoT then imagine what a Super Heavy would have been
