saw this on tumblr and it has me spinning fr its truth. it's about how those of us living with chronic pain also can have high pain tolerances and also can seem like we don't and how messed up the whole thing is. especially resonating for me is the "I wake up at a 4/10" because I don't remember the last time I didn't have at least a 4 in pain, typical is 5/6 (that's where I start to have a harder time ignoring it). https://www.tumblr.com/myspecialshoelaces/718400872079572992

I was trying to imagine what it would be like to not have pain. As someone in my 50s, I know that it would be likely even if I didn’t have rheumatoid arthritis that I would have aches and pains from aging. So I know what I’m imagining isn’t even something that’s “realistic.” That said, when I imagine what it would be like to not always be in so much pain, I get a little weepy.
@serenebabe Ouch, that sounds horrible. Poor you.
I'm in my 50s too, but don't have any ageing pains. Yet.
@davidnjoku I am so happy to hear that! I mean, yeah, the pain sucks, but it’s really good to think about people being not in pain!
@davidnjoku It's great that you've managed to avoid the ageing pains so far. I'm in my 50s too (still getting used to the idea as it's only been a few months), and am coming to the conclusion that I have some aches and pains, and it's easy to add to the baseline. I'm trying to work out how much I can avoid or reduce.
@serenebabe I empathize and sympathize. I have psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis and most days since I’ve been on numerous medications are good while some are horrid. Stay positive and as active as you can. I do yoga and Pilates and that helps except for at 3:00 AM!
