@xahteiwi which device do you use to monitor freezer power consumption?

also, you need to mention if dryer is electric or gas, because electric will consume much more...

@sashk @xahteiwi gas dryers are pretty much non existent in Europe, I believe? Haven't ever seen a single one advertised in four countries...
@flameeyes @xahteiwi didn’t know. here in USA we have both. At least, for now.
@sashk @xahteiwi yeah I know. Depending on country here things change a lot, but at least in the two flats I lived here in London I didn't even have gas lines...
@flameeyes @sashk @xahteiwi my village it in the middle of forest about 20km from capital. What is gas line? :-D
@janantos but you get electricity somehow? Is it produced locally using solar/wind/hydro, or delivered via wires? If later, similarly gas can be delivered via pipes, or via cylinders.
@sashk I am full electric, having heat-pumps for heating and warm water. My electricity is contracted from green sources. Solars maybe in few years, but given the fact of having long winters here and also may no light (close to polar nights) we need to make some calculations first
@janantos Ah, I see. I have solar panels on my roof, which help a bit to offset costs during april-october period, but they are not very useful during shorter months. they do produce electricity, but much much less.
@sashk given the fact it is end of May and we are still heating, because the night temp is as low as 8 degrees Celsius. the offset of costs I need to calculate, return of investment first and get to understand the legal stuff, while I will be during summer (close to polar day) producing more than I need.

@janantos Here in US, whatever we overproduce is being returned to the grid, and I am given credit towards following months. At a specific date, this is being reset to zero, and instead of credit, utility company will buy from me all over produced electricity for a few cents per kW. (and later sell back to me at 10x price)

Another option which was available to me is to install whole house batteries and keep them charged and use them first during night or cloudy days.

@sashk we can also return to grid but I need to check I the whole my contract will be needed then on spot prices, I do have now fixed price for 3 years
@sashk btw you most likely did not get my irony there. But anyway no way someone will build pipes with gas.
