This post I just boosted seems very apropos regarding #COVID:

Any solution to COVID which doesn’t address the #politics of getting people to adopt that solution is not a solution.

For example, getting people to adopt masking and/or distancing as a societal norm looks dead in the water right now. I like to compare it to stamping out #smoking with a starting point of 1930: You’re looking at probably over 30 years before widespread change even begins. If someone believes that a solution is needed sooner than that, then they need to be looking elsewhere.

One approach is to educate the population about the available measures and the general risk, and on top of that educate each individual on their specific risk profile*.

Then let folk decide what risk they are going to take for themselves and those close to them.

*At least one study is showing that a specific gene formation is significantly associated with more severe Covid outcomes.
