I'm back! I saw @Colarusso at a symposium and remembered I should be here, not at the other place 😅

To celebrate/apologize, here's a #crochet commission I finished today - a "dritten" (dragon kitten?) from Upside-Down Magic, inspired by Spottedleaf from the Warrior Cats books. She's a birthday present for my friend's cool 10yo!

To be honest, things have not been great! It was a rough semester in a variety of ways. Someone reached out to me about a cool opportunity! I got to the interview stage! I did not get it! It took up my whole damn semester dreaming, worrying, working on materials, prepping my stuff! Teaching was... not great! I have not been my best self.

Now all that's over, it's summer, and I'm trying to figure myself out again - reconnect with what used to bring me joy and figure out what's next.

@design_law Thanks! The news is still a bit fresh so I am in my feelings, but I will be fine. I think it's just part of a bigger picture of my dissatisfaction with academia right now. Teaching is straightup not a good time right now 😅 The salary benchmarking study confirmed we're underpaid. Just not sure where to go from here that will allow me to do the stuff I love and not... most of the rest.
