Meta laid off another 10000 people today. That’s 21000 people total that Meta have let go due to an egregious spell of over hiring. 21000 lives thrown into chaos and no one will be held responsible.

Take big tech to congress and make them pay

@MrWhiskers “over hiring” yes yes the $50B they blew on a side project which they made every single employee try to use. lol.
@MrWhiskers something tells me that $50B and those 21k people have absolutely zero correlation in the budget.

@MrWhiskers
Honestly good riddence to Falsebook Corp.

Our admin labels the likes of MShaft, (sc)amazon and (screw)gle #dotcons because BigTech is a term that gives them power. We had to think about it a bit, but now we agree, 'dotCon' is the more appropriate term.

Its even more relevant now with all the #downsizing. :)

@MrWhiskers Apologies, but I'm having trouble figuring out what exactly is wrong with a company staffing up to do something, and then staffing down to... stop doing the thing.

Isn't it better to have hired and layed-off than to never have hired at all? Facebook was losing several billions of dollars each quarter, they sorta had to change direction.

@MrWhiskers @thegibson Isn’t it interesting how they don’t fire the person who decided to over-hire this many people, and how they’ll end up giving said person a bonus for correcting his mistake?
