LGBTQ+ folk (as well as allies) should tread carefully as well. I told my husband last night that there's no way I'll consider going back to Florida (unless work sends me there, at which point I have no choice) until DeathSentence is out of office and his regressive laws repealed. He's in wholehearted concurrence.

@Free_Press Not just black Americans. Black anywhere, pregnant women and LGBT folk. But Florida is not the only state to avoid. Best bet-avoid USA FOR TOURISM

@JohnLoader6 @Free_Press , USA is not a civilized country I am afraid. I had wonderful holidays a couple of times there over 20 y. ago and I was looking forward to re visit it with my kids. Now I know I will never visit it again and probably neither my kids.. sad

If I didn't live here, I wouldn't come visiting. I live in a relatively less bigoted part of the country and it hasn't got to the point of needing to leave the country, but if the bigots and religious extremists start affecting my rights and my kids' education around me, I will leave.

I would hope that the people in Florida would vote them out, but they voted for DeSantis and Republicans by a landslide. Even with voter suppression taken into account, it's disappointing that more than half the state actively wants a bigoted, fascist state.
