Move this kid up a couple of grades.
@MostlyHarmless This kid needs at least an A+
@MostlyHarmless
Excellent! Leave school, child.
@MostlyHarmless Yeah, here in France kids are pretty conversant on the terms of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

@MostlyHarmless
This kid will be a modern liberal champion.
@MostlyHarmless my school does this alot, it incentivises people to not follow the rules as you will still be punished if you followed the rules
@MostlyHarmless only if there's a war in the classroom, sadly. Still, in america, this is possible
@MostlyHarmless Particularly impressed by use of "Conventions" (plural). Kid's paying attention
@MostlyHarmless just listening to β€œthe dawn of everything” and they talk about how First Nations in the Americas used collective consequences rather than police or jails and apparently it was quite effective.
@MostlyHarmless I was like this kid and strangely enough, none of my educators or principals appreciated me.
@MostlyHarmless Good kid. One of the few times I stood out in high school was when I refused to join in a round of pushups in Physical Education class, commanded on account of some classmate joking around. Not all memories of adolescence are bad memories.
@MostlyHarmless Collective punishment when I was a kid in school fired up an anger at injustice that I still have to this day, 60 years later.
@MostlyHarmless As a retired teacher, I can not imagine a teacher using this approach now. But then, I have trouble believing that book banning and don't say gay/trans/real-history is considered appropriate educational methodology.
@MostlyHarmless
Don't, let them thrive and flourish without being fast-tracked into inevitable burn out as a gifted kid

@MostlyHarmless

Collective punishment is common place in more conservative leaning schools.

@Lats

@MostlyHarmless There's hope yet, when the next generation are thinking straight. Hope it trickles through to the UK. We badly need it here.
@MostlyHarmless Straight to law school!
@12thRITS better not, law school often burns out those who believe in justice and leaves the ones who want to win no matter what.
@MostlyHarmless
@MostlyHarmless what does that say?

@zyz @MostlyHarmless #alt4you A teacher evaluation form
Prompt: "Things my teacher(s) can do better"

Answer: "Not use collective punishment as it is not fair on the many people who did nothing and under the 1949 Geneva Conventions it is a war crime."

@MostlyHarmless This child is wise beyond their years!
@MostlyHarmless especially since the institutional functionality of grade school is equivalent to a POW camp in nearly every respect.
