CW: Reading this will hurt. But it's important to spread awareness of the amount of cruelty that Republicans are bringing into the world. Torture seems to be the best word to describe what they made this woman and her family go through.

After being denied an abortion, a Florida mother watched her baby die

Milo Evan Dorbert, whose mother’s pregnancy tested the interpretation of Florida’s new abortion law, was born with a fatal abnormality. He lived 99 minutes.

@leaverou @karger Were we living in a just world, something terrible would happen to the likes of DeSantis and his ilk.
@leaverou @karger Very few people are not aware what lack of access to abortion means. The mistake is thinking that if they just understood, they would feel differently. They will not. Legislative control over reproductive rights is well worth the tortured death of a newborn infant, a price they are more than willing for someone else to pay to promote the rightwing agenda.

@sabrinadent DeSantis is a monster and he's not the only one. While at Guantanamo he lied to inmates to learn what hurt them most and then used that knowledge to make the torture worse. He sat with an inmate being forcefed with a hose to the point of throwing up and he laughed about it. He not only tolerates the suffering of others, he enjoys it. These people know exactly what they're doing. It's time to stop pretending the right just has a difference of opinion, they want you dead and they want you to suffer the entire time. This isn't a "both sides" thing, this isn't playground politics, this is about one side wanting you to suffer and using any means necessary to make that happen. And by "you" I mean everyone: queer folks, women, people of color, the poor, non-Christians, the wrong kind of Christians, they won't ever stop, they'll just move on to the next group when they run out of victims.

The only thing that can save us is radical empathy. Violence, yes, but only when necessary and only as an act of love, to defend others. Violence won't stop this before it's too late and neither will the ballot box. Empathy will. That's why that's what they've been trying to destroy for ages, that's why they're trying to create a culture war, why they try to create narratives that justify their power grab.

@leaverou they should use 8A to argue against those laws: these are are cruel and unusual punishments by the State.
