The state of Florida put this family through sadistic torture to force the birth of an infant with no chance of survival.

Will the state pay the medical bills that their "insurance" rejected? Yeah, right.

Cruelty on top of cruelty.

After being denied an abortion, a Florida mother watched her baby die

Milo Evan Dorbert, whose mother’s pregnancy tested the interpretation of Florida’s new abortion law, was born with a fatal abnormality. He lived 99 minutes.

They must sue. Punitive damages for pain and suffering. We are going to have to litigate our way through these aggressive and destructive laws. It is the only way. Waiting and hoping for the best outcome from the next election cycle no longer works.

@noondlyt @dangillmor

Yes. Sue the state. Unfortunately, individual legislatures are probably indemnified.

I'd still like to see them try.

@AnonymooseGuy @dangillmor Time to stop assuming and just proceed. Whether it is legal or not has no bearing on whether it should be attempted. We have to become much more aggressive now. There are no other options.

@noondlyt @dangillmor

True. It's not like the #Fascists care about actual right and wrong.

The only "right" they champion is there's, and their's alone. The right to power.

#HumanRights are a myth to be extinguished.

We are only fighting for the survival of the #RuleOfLaw; the foundation of civilization.

No big deal ...

It's time to be (dare I say it?) ...

#Audacious

@noondlyt @dangillmor Agree. Sue the state and Ron DeSantis. I'm curious how people are dealing with the lack of medical coverage for hospital stays,etc. Insurance companies typically only cover approved treatment, which would be an abortion. I forget the phrase they use for "unnecessary procedures", but any and all billing after that would be billed to the tortured family.
@dangillmor I think it is legitimate to say that the GOP’s abortion bans led to untold suffering for this infant as it tried to breath. So much for caring for the children. It continues to be about controlling women’s bodies.
@johnscalise @dangillmor Not only is it about controlling women: it's about treating children as property (the property of their male owner, typically the father). It's all one big slavery-adjacent hairball of horrors.

@dangillmor And she’s not the only one. There are women whose own lives were put at risk, who had to become septic before doctors could perform an abortion on a dead fetus to save the mother’s life. It’s disgusting. And the perpetrators have the nerve to call themselves “pro life.”

What will it take to get government to stop making medical decisions for people? A Constitutional Amendment?

@dangillmor Torturing WOMEN has become the platform of the GOP.
@dangillmor should just start leaving the dead fetuses in DeSantis' office
@dangillmor
Party's over. Time to leave Florida if you're of child baring age.

@dangillmor

If you are of child bearing age in Florida… and many other right-wing red states… you are a target and may be subject to some of Americas cruelest laws… this is a heartbreaking horrible story but it must be told… it’s grief filled…

He arrived in the world with no kidneys, underdeveloped lungs and a life expectancy of between 20 minutes and a couple of hours.😢😢😢

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

@dangillmor The cruelty is the point, right?
@dangillmor the state robbed her of 6 mths of fertility to try and get pregnant again. Feels like this strategy needs to be pursued.

@dangillmor
I must reject my over-sympathetic urges and condemn this blatant act of state sadomasochism.

It baffles one's mind to image the mentality behind such right-wing atrocity.

@dangillmor Forcing an infant to term so it can engage in a hopeless struggle to breathe for 99 agonizing minutes before dying.

@dangillmor

Just read this via Memeorandum.

Cruelty seems to be the purpose. 🙁

@dangillmor Sorry to put it so bluntly but F***K you, Florida.. #abortion #abortionlaw

@dangillmor
Reminder that Ron DeSantis's C.V. includes "Torturer."

That's not hyperbole. He was employed as a torturer at Guantanamo. Enough cannot be said about that.

@dangillmor Not. That is what happen when people let the state take over. Cruelty and hate takes over. Florida is becoming Florida of Nazies. Those who live there need to move out unless they support it. Businesses need to move also.
