Please welcome the newest addition to the Mass-Driver catalogue, MD System Mono!

Designed by @lukecharsley and available today in 10 styles.

System Mono is the monospaced counterpart to our flagship workhorse grotesque, sharing the same vertical metrics as the proportional family — and the same slightly rotated contrast that gives the typeface its warm, analogue character.

MD System · Mass-Driver™

A typeface for general practice: MD System is a workhorse grotesque which combines a rational family layout with an appearance that embraces the human hand.

For the most part System Mono maintains the same glyph set as its proportional counterparts, but I couldn’t help adding box-drawing and block elements for terminal graphics.

(This doesn’t mean it’s specifically intended for programming — although if you enjoy using it for code, you certainly can. I just think these glyphs are broadly useful, and they’re fun to draw.)

@mass_driver very, very cool of you. 🙌

@mass_driver @lukecharsley Seems like going the type catalog page, then clicking “MD System Mono” leads to a broken page? (links to `/typefaces/md-system-mono`)

The link above works fine, for the record, and congrats on the release!

@jonpalmisc Thanks for the heads up! I fixed this on the staging site and then forgot to update production -_-
@mass_driver @lukecharsley It looks great! (added to my ongoing monos list too: https://realdougwilson.com/writing/coding-with-character)

@onpaperwings thank you! And thanks for the double honourable mention, with IO there too :)
@mass_driver @lukecharsley this is sooooo goood! 🤩
@levibeach thank you! But also: yes, I totally agree — Luke did an incredible job on this project, and turned it into something much better than what I would have made alone.
@mass_driver @lukecharsley Loving that font, I've come to associate it with Orca
@neauoire what grid metrics does Orca use? Can I get you a version that’ll work with it natively?
@mass_driver Thanks! I'd love to see if the readability can be improved somewhat. The current ratio for javascript version cells is 5:7, the Uxn implementation is 8:16
