Just gonna say this right here,
Mastodon.social is quickly becoming intolerable for many reasons.
If you’re on mastodon.social and you follow me, or even see this post, I highly advise changing instances. For your own sake, and for the sake of your federation with others.
A lot of smaller instances and a lot of users have already started blocking mastodon.social because of its ineffective moderation at such great volume.
The reason Fedi scales so well is being split up into smaller, manageable instances. Look into account migration, and find another instance, it’s the only course of action I can advise at this point

@alfredohno I will have t oI think. Can you (or someone) repost the blog on how to change instances?

And I will move

@alfredohno @nichu42 Brilliant, exactly the boost Karenboy needed. War on Mastodon. Do you realize not everybody is a techie?
@alfredohno I have glitch.social invites 🙌
@alfredohno which is why i am also on 3 smaller instances.
@alfredohno is this a reaction to spam incidents? Because those are next to impossible to predict & taken care of very quickly once detected, the attacks are pretty sophisticated too from what I'm hearing

@alfredohno

Sorry to hear that.

I must admit it's at times a bit tiresome to scroll through so many posts on the home feed - not always relevant.

That's the cost of not having an algorithm I guess.

Anyway, when I don't encounter anything interesting I search for #hashtags I follow, and that usually works.

I just wish there would be a list of all hashtags I follow, besides the recently searched ones.

@alfredohno I worry this isn't quite the solution. Won't smaller instances have even fewer resources to do moderation effectively?
What sort of content are you seeing from mastodon social that they are failing to moderate? Why doesn't curating your follow list help to mostly moderate the content you see?

@mpanhans @alfredohno this!

There's no suggested posts on Mastodon so what you're seeing? Dumb responses? Go write a blog instead.
