It's Monday, so I'm starting new posts for my daily #inkyDays drawings.

Today, I'm playing with a bit of color gradient, starting in the center of these branches. It's very subtle, though.

Here's an in-progress photo

It's a rainy day, here in San Francisco, so I'm going with bright hot pink inks in today's #inkyDays drawing.

Another grey and rainy day, and I'm not really mustering up any bright colors today.

I did manage to finish a bigger drawing today. So there's that.

Playing with these shapes as discontinuous entities, in today's #inkyDays drawing.

Today's drawing has a pattern I'd love to explore on a larger scale. I can't help but think about Sea-slugs when I draw these.

Today's #inkyDays drawing is inspired by a band. I couldn't resist this!

Yes, I've circle-packed faces in a very crowded house.

Today, I'm thinking about lots of little houses on rolling hills.

And that's a wrap for this week of daily #inkyDays drawings.

They're all posted for my supporters on Ko-fi and Patreon now:

Going cellular in today's #inkyDays drawing. I went to a little overboard with the ribosomes in the finished drawing.

Here's a work-in-progress photo, before I added the Ribosomes to the ER.

Working on today's drawing, I was thinking about roots and nerves and moving molecules around.

Experimenting with drawing bees today. I don't want them to be too realistic, but also not too abstract. Still haven't gotten the wings right. It's work in progress.

@kristinHenry Lovely :) remember bees have two pairs of wings, like this: http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/158273763
Mining Bees (Genus Andrena)

Mining Bees from Cambridge University Botanic Garden, Cambridge, England, GB on April 30, 2023 at 05:37 PM by Albert Cardona. Rarely does a bee show its four wings, yet this one did.

@albertcardona just curious, but did you see the part where I said was going abstract and not too realistic? This is art, not illustration.

I get that this one is closer to your specialty, and you miss the accuracy.

I also draw cell organelles in abstract and not exactly how they look through an electron microscope.

@kristinHenry Sorry, I understood by abstract that no bee in particular is being drawn, but doesn’t mean they couldn’t be anatomically accurate—also, the number of wings is a major distinguishing feature between bees and flies.

@albertcardona I get that. I think that you just didn't get what I was working on.

In this particular *experimental* abstract drawing, I'm aiming for a hint of the wings as well as movement.

Bear in mind that each 'bee' is smaller than a dime.

I have, indeed, looked into what bees actually look like.

I'm working on the abstraction.

@kristinHenry Thank you, indeed, the wings look like the triangle that is the sum of all the front and back wing strokes.
