Anderson Cooper: people who decided they're done with CNN after the recent debacle are choosing a Trump-free "silo"

No Anderson, Trump's lies, treason, and criminality have permeated every fucking corner of American life. Dropping CNN like a sack full of angry vipers will not end that in any way. It'll just give CNN what it deserves for participating in the damage.

@Nonya_Bidniss Anderson lies for a living

@rundmz @Nonya_Bidniss

This is starting to sound like Twitter. No, Anderson doesn't lie for a living. He's a dedicated and talented journalist who expressed a position that isn't popular.

What's sad to me is that we, as a nation, get this incensed over a difference of opinion.

@robhon What does Twitter sound like? He's a liar no matter how much you adore him. He works for CNN the National Enquirer of cable news. Any opinion he has he's paid to have. That's lying for a living.

@rundmz

It's the uninformed dismissive tone.

You clearly don't know much about Anderson Cooper.

@robhon Are you Anderson Cooper's alt account or just a secret admirer?

@rundmz

Another Twitter-like comment.

To answer, neither.

@robhon So you believe he's an angel descended from heaven and he can never tell a lie?

@rundmz

He's a highly respected journalist who is reporting in a way that is inconvenient for your priors.

@robhon It's not inconvenient to me, I get my news from more than one person. I simply pointed out he's a liar for a living. Nepotism got him everywhere and that is not a respectable trait to anyone who isn't unemployed.

@rundmz

If you think his reporting a lie, that's proof of the fact his reporting offends your priors.

And actually, Cooper is an interesting and unique person in that he separated himself from his mother's name and inheritance and earned his own way. And his mother wasn't a journalist, so nepotism would not have come into play.

(I can already see this conversation headed for a block.)

@robhon Do you always block people who disagree with you? I see, you're from Twitter.

@rundmz

I block inane people who can't seem to carry on a rational, intelligent conversation.

@robhon What is irrational about my opinion other than it disagreeing with your priors?
@robhon What if you were here defending Tucker Carlson saying the same thing? You sound inane and irrational with your idolatry of pundits.
@Nonya_Bidniss Most everything I know about Trump I learned without my consent.
@avocado_toast @Nonya_Bidniss Had that f****** book of his shoved in our faces in high school and I knew he was a dickhead back then
@DavidMHarlan @avocado_toast @Nonya_Bidniss One of Trump’s books? Where the hell did you go to high school?

@DTBurosh @avocado_toast @Nonya_Bidniss

Texas. 😏

I did realize later that that could be misconstrued as Art of the Deal being required reading; it was not. It was just everywhere at the time, and in my mind the only memories of any conversation regarding it are solely associated with the school lunch table.

Now, Atlas Shrugged; THAT was required reading. 🙄 Didn't read that garbage, either.

@Nonya_Bidniss I don't watch cable tv anymore, but this morning received an uncharacteristic level of CNN notifications in youtube, pointing me to short takes of the town hall and CNN analysis. I would say they know what's happening in audiences or would-be audiences.
@Nonya_Bidniss: He sounds like he has been touching a tad too much of that special grass in his silo if he thinks that there's freedom from Trump outside CNN.

@Nonya_Bidniss

YES! That’s exactly what the country needs—a trump-free media!
trump should’ve been SHUNNED a lifetime ago, certainly after he made his presidency about white supremacy, and emphatically after he instigated sedition against the United States!!
C’mon—there’s no excuse to let this bastard dictate the public square. There are numerous “newsmakers” that the media doesn’t platform because they are too disgusting.

@bronakins I've argued for bringing back shunning and ostracizing since 2016
@Nonya_Bidniss does Cooper have a clue how many people happily lead their lives free of any cable news at all?
@Nonya_Bidniss Just like I would get rid of trash or things of no value in my home- I choose to keep my information "silo" free from trash like Trump's never-ending firehouse of lies. It doesn't mean I don't hear it- it just means I give it no value. When all someone does is lie constantly you don't keep assigning their information the same weight as others that don't. The only value of hearing repeated lies is to the propagandist. This wasn't news- it wasn't entertainment- it was propaganda

@Nonya_Bidniss I would ask Anderson Cooper what he feels is the proper ratio of truth to lies that one must hear, in order to have a "balanced" perspective.

Truth is not a silo.

@Nonya_Bidniss Cooper is just awful on this, just playing CNN’s corporate shill.
@Nonya_Bidniss ha, it's impossible to silo one self from that orange menace given how the press fawns over him. Anderson has lost the plot here or he was forced into that. either way, it sucks
@Nonya_Bidniss
My problem isn’t so much that they put on the orange menace as he is a possible candidate but the fact that this farce of a town hall did not include people from both sides, only his followers who cheer at everything he lies about, no matter how disgusting. Had it been an actual town hall with tough questions from both sides, he never would have agreed to it.
As soon as the moderator contradicted one of his lies, he called her a nasty person. That’s how I know.

@Nonya_Bidniss

Yeah, that's the ticket!

"The Pathological Liar" was a comedian not a townhall news event. I would think a news guy would understand the difference.

Maybe not in 2023, where corporate profits are at stake.

@Nonya_Bidniss It was frustrating to see him defend the decision to have that townhall and then chide people who didn’t think it should have happened.

@Nonya_Bidniss

Apologists of terrorists are terrorist supporters. CNN must face the consequences of its acts.

@Nonya_Bidniss
I can’t be the only one who sees cable news — all of them — as manipulation programs. Same for morning network news and Sunday shows. They’re so willing to support lies and misinformation in the name of “both sides” that they’ve become intolerable to me. Now Musk destroyed Twitter and I’m about to go silent. All our lives are being damaged by wealthy sociopaths. Arggg
@Nonya_Bidniss Gah! Looks like we’re in another round of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, it’s like the 2016 primaries all over again wtf 🧟‍♂️
@Nonya_Bidniss Shifted on my phone to the Reuters app. CNN was too US-centric with their coverage for US IPs anyway.

@Nonya_Bidniss
I've been thinking, if conservatism and Nazism are abysmal ideologies, why do we accept them? They harm our fellow human beings.

"Ideological diversity" my ass. If you're gonna feed me illiberal lies, you can expect me to protect my brain from your bullshit.

@Nonya_Bidniss
Confusing, but true.

If we allow antidemocrats to thrive, democracy will fall apart.

@Nonya_Bidniss The best response I saw over on the bird site was "Sorry, Andy, we're gonna do as you do and not as you say and drop ya'll the same way you dropped Kathy Griffin when she made a joke with an $8 Halloween Mask and some ketchup."
@Nonya_Bidniss
He's deliberately confusing the INSIDE of the silo with the OUTSIDE of the silo.
He's inside, we're outside.
@Nonya_Bidniss I felt totally gaslighted by Coopers lecture.

@Nonya_Bidniss people who decided they’re done with FELNN after the recent debacle are choosing a face-eating leopard-free “silo”.

Yeah… I don’t want face-eating leopards anywhere near my… face.

@Nonya_Bidniss There is hardly anything worse than a journalist insisting their product MUST be consumed or else WE are the ones who suck. Nope, it’s the journalist who sucks.
@Nonya_Bidniss. Based on today's reporting, it appears that the audience was itself siloed in that only applause was allowed. The boos were silenced, I mean siloed. #ThisWasCNN
@Nonya_Bidniss
I gave up television news (BBC America the rare exception a handful of times in the interim) back in 2016.
I read my news now. I’m better informed, more politically active and less stressed since doing so.
I pick local papers, a well rounded variety of online publications and make sure to include opposing opinions. I can do that and skip the Trump debacle version 2. I don’t need Anderson Cooper, Nicole Wallace, Joe Scarborough or Tucker Carlson to help me figure things out.
@Nonya_Bidniss #AndersonCooper is full of shit. #cnn can report in detail on #Trump activities, but they don't have to give him a free televised prime time special with a friendly audience that laughs at sexual assault jokes. Jfc, what has happened to Cooper?
@mshiltonj Nothing happened. He's a man without standards. We can assume that's always been true.
@Nonya_Bidniss "Dropping CNN like a sack full of angry vipers" Perfect, the Chef kiss of the appropriate reaction to CNN.
@Nonya_Bidniss
CNN Anderson acted as cartoon agents of Trump. CNN is a silo to act as his agent

@Nonya_Bidniss

I think people are misdirecting their anger and frustration toward Cooper and CNN. The news has to cover Trump in some form or another.

The opportunity they miss is finding an effective technique to cover him. The guy has a pretty simple shtick that he repeats ad nauseam. The journalist who figures out the most effective method to respond, and teaches the rest of the news world, will be forever famous.

@Nonya_Bidniss I've cut the cord on cable since 2013, haven't spent a moment thinking "wonder what CNN is reporting", it's the better way to go.
@Sean I cut the cord around 2008. 👍
@Nonya_Bidniss I was among the 81 million Americans who chose a Trump-free silo which he then nearly succeeded in burning down. Shame on CNN. @TamiEntabi
