Apparently, there are people who are happy that they won’t be able to install optional third party stores on iOS because they don’t live in the EU.

Like, why?! “Oh I’m sure glad this option to get more apps that Apple might have not allowed doesn’t come to MY phone!”

You don't need different firmware for that. It can just check some flag to allow this.

I'm wondering would it require you to bind EU issued bank card to apple account? Or how hard it would be to trick device into thinking it's EU based?

@winnie13ua probably just a matter of where you buy it, so maybe 'muricans could spend extra to import EU phones, but I imagine that would get very costly given how expensive those phones already are.
