Hello #Mastodon! My first post, trying to figure this all out.

This is a shot I took of the Northern Lights, in Northern Illinois, at the end of April when we had an unbelievable evening where we could see them at our latitude.

@BokehBouquet That is insane! I lived in northern Indiana for 3 years, and Michigan for 10 years and I never saw anything like this.

@podfeet I’ve never seen anything like it either, this was a rare, extremely strong solar storm. Guessing I’ll never see anything like it again at these latitudes but hope I do!

@BokehBouquet When I was around 10 years old, I was lying on the dock next to our boat in Charlevoix and watching the sky turning crazy colors. I didn’t know what it was, but my dad noticed me out there and laid down next to me and we watched them together as he explained what was happening. #greatMemories
