While I love what #goose has been doing with Drive this year, I'm finding myself missing the "B section" jam, or perhaps what we should consider calling "Drive With"? It seems we're getting a lot of "Drive... Without".

elgoose doesn't track this either, hard to tell when was the last time they played Drive With... Seems all of their earlier performances had it...but it has dropped off.

@furrylizards They haven’t played it with a jam since the Cap 3/8.

Haven’t played the section with the “Ooooo’s” since sometime in June ‘22. Not sure the exact the show.

The 3/8 Drive had a second jam (i.e. the up tempo jam coming out of the return to the Drive guitar riff which I gather is what you are referring to as the “with” part). They have been changing it up a lot over the last year, first by dropping the “oh oh oh” vocals (last one I recall was 5/28/22) and letting the main jam come out of the guitar solo and then by cutting that second jam with increasing frequency and finally more recently opting against extended improv altogether.

@blazeofshame yep, as I'm seeing it, the "oh oh oh" part is what triggers the "with" section, which is the composed portion that I dig. Last one I see is from 6/11/22, not played since. Again, not bad, as Drive continues to evolve, but I love that highly-syncopated composed part.

@furrylizards @blazeofshame I miss the jam. Was one of my favorite jam vehicles. I really hope they bring it back. I listened to that 3-1-22 Drive maybe more than any jam from last year.

It’s nowhere near as dark or intense but the last section feels similar to me. Kind of a sparse but pressing vibe? Not sure how to describe it
