She brushed her long, stringy, just-got-out-of-bed hair off her shoulders with a mesmerising flick of her wrists, and tucked the stubborn strands behind her ears. Owen clutched his chest when she stepped closer to one of her friends and the light directly above cast her in a golden glow. She was lovely, with a high forehead and little nose that complemented her youthful apple cheeks. Her big, dark eyes tilted upwards like a cat—so curious and expressive.

His voice was deep and gravelly, with a mild Australian accent. He smiled at her again and ran a hand through the waves of his hair. Now that she sat closer, Naya noticed the freckles that dusted the bridge of his nose and cheeks, and her heart thrummed. That smattering of freckles gave the seemingly unapproachable, powerful man an air of boyish charm.
