McCarthy’s debt ceiling plan would slash school funding, impacting 25M kids in schools with low-income students and 7.5M students with disabilities.

Oh, and it could force a reduction of up to 108,000 teachers, aides, and other key staff.

The GOP's priorities are crystal clear.

@rbreich As long as they get their tax cuts and put the rest of “them” in their place, right? 🤨🤨🤨
@rbreich
You could always cut that massive defense budget which Biden inflated when he came to power. 😉
@rbreich Yep. Keep them dumb and working for minimum wages, or less.
@rbreich They've been transparent about their goals for 40 years, at least.

@rbreich

But hey, school voucher money for private Christians schools would be readily available, right?

@rbreich The GQP Domestic Terrorists are ruining America
@rbreich It’s the @gop plan for the dumbing of America …
@rbreich if they can't shoot them or starve them then the next logical step is to create a group of uneducated in order to control. This isn't hard to figure out.
@rbreich this way there will be less people to have killed in school shootings?
@rbreich Th GOP has demonstrated for 40 years that they only wish to balance the budget as an excuse to block Democratic-led social plans. Democrats have demonstrated that they know how to grow and nurture the economy - yet they still haven’t a clue how to effectively market their successes.
@rbreich republicans figure the proletariat don’t need education. Education is dangerous. Just teach them how to weld, or drive a truck, and vote the way Fox tells them to vote.
@rbreich It's not a plan. It's a conspiracy. Republicans didn't make these cuts when they had power because they knew people wouldn't like them. So they ran up the deficit to force Democrats to make the cuts. If Democrats instead raise taxes again, Republicans could say we told you so.
@rbreich their priorities are themselves, as has always been the case. Shame on those who allow themselves to believe otherwise because there is absolutely no reason to do so.
