I'm @marcoarment on Bluesky if you're over there.

I don't know if it'll stick yet, but the crowd there is VERY different so far from what I've found here — much smaller, of course, but also much more diverse. It's refreshing.

@marcoarment Real question: What's wrong with the people here?
I mean diversity wise.
I'm starting to feel this place growing and growing at a nice pace, so it's not as empty as it used to be.

Not sure about Marco’s circles but for me, who’s from South East Asia, as most SEA folks are still on Twitter, the small group people who self-select to join the Fediverse tend to have a strong anarchist/anti-capitalist/open-source software streak - which i all sympathize with, but Twitter & Bluesky are definitely more *ideologically* diverse (though the right wingers are not on Bluesky yet).

On the other hand, I see far more south East Asians/people from various countries on Mastodon for now & Bluesky feels very Western (though there’s sizable Japanese and Persian communities up there already). Things will likely change there as SEA folks of various ideological leanings start trying out Bluesky once the floodgates are open.

So far I’m mostly sticking to Mastodon as here’s where I’ve found many interesting people (versus Bluesky which is mainly twitter bigwigs), but I’m keeping an eye on the other side as well for sure.
