When we dismantle 980 it should become a 70 acre linear park from Castro to Brush and from Grand to the waterfront
There is plenty of road capacity downtown so we must not repeat the mistake of Mandela Parkway where we replaced a highway with an overbuilt avenue
@bryanculbertson Maybe someday the elevated freeways will be converted into High Line style parks too.
@bryanculbertson why not put all the Victorians back
@migurski in a perfect world we never would have built 980 and the Victorians would still be there, but this close to downtown if we zoned for residential we would actually get midrise

@migurski the reason I advocate for a park though is West Oakland has a lot of vacant lots zoned for residential, so we have plenty of unused zoned capacity for housing

Oakland is desperately missing a world class park in the flats like Central Park or Golden Gate Park, and this would be the perfect opportunity to create one

@bryanculbertson that would be extremely cool.
