Wow. Wordpress just announced they have to drop support for Twitter in their Jetpack post sharing plug-in as they haven’t been able to reach agreement with Twitter for access. They are committing to adding support for Mastodon!
The majority of the Web’s individually run websites are Wordpress! It’s ON!!

@chris Nice, I've been waiting for Mastodon support
@chris Also, there's already a WordPress app for connecting your blog to the fediverse
@joshisanonymous Absolutely. I am using it. :) This is notable though because Jetpack is heavily promoted and “bundled” with many WP installs. I believe it is the most installed plugin. So removing Twitter and adding Mastodon along with Instagram really shoots Mastodon up into a near peer position with the other big social networks!
@chris the lawyers where I work told Marketing not to pay Twitter for anything
@chris
Mastodon, coming soon to a WordPress website near you!
@summersun704 @chris Doesn't surprise me. Consider the so&so.
@chris it'll be interesting to see what they do vs Pfefferle's ActivityPub plugin (now part of Automaticc). Currently comments there aren't bi-directional but otherwise works pretty well
@olavf Agreed. I’m using that plugin and it seems to do a decent job of putting the blog on the Fediverse. That said, the Jetpack functionality is more simplistic anyway as it’s just about sharing a post. Hopefully it formats it well.
@chris hmmm. I can see wanting to do that if it's tied to your preferred federated account, but ultimately (at least my) recipe site id love to have fully federated where comments in either direction becomes part of the same conversation.
@olavf For sure. Just depends on people’s needs/wants
@chris yep more options are better.
@chris Without going into details... yes. And that's entirely Musk's fault. But Mastodon, so I mean... win.
