Even I, as a terminally online person, still couldn’t engage with mastodon in any meaningful way till I got @ivory because the out of the box UX is so shoddy.

But I’m not going to apologize for stating that it took the good iOS developers (and the web devs behind things like Elk) to make Mastodon worth using for me. Just b/c something is free doesn’t mean I have to pretend it doesn’t have deficiencies, esp. when it has been clear for years that UX was not a priority.

Mike Schnier@icing @film_girl @dbsmasher If you don’t have an appetite for harsh criticism, running a social network is a mistake. Users make less kind comments about smaller issues all the time.
@icing @film_girl @dbsmasher I don’t think an end-user complaining about a bad experience is abusive, unless they’re tagging you, constantly sending you emails and being a dingus about it.
