So the Sprint no longer affects the grid order for the race so if you go from 15 to 10 it means nothing

BUT if you get a penalty during the sprint or bang up your car, that will affect where you start during the race

Lose-lose!

I'm just worried about Yuki. He qualified so well yesterday but now this mostly pointless Sprint may screw him up for tomorrow when he really didn't have anything to gain in the first place

@cami I kinda like the fact that the sprint result doesn't affect the race starting order as anyone who qualifies out of position just end up where they normally would be anyway, but this makes it even more pointless, particularly for the drivers that are likely to finish towards the back. It's just a waste of fuel and tyres for them.

@ellieraeuk totally agree. That's how Lewis was able to make 15 positions or whatever it was in Brazil 2021

The whole format is pointless and I think they're just scrambling trying to make it work

@cami kinda surprised nobody below 8th position retired with "uhhhh we don't like these sensor values, box box, we're gonna retire the car".

@bbben @cami

I can 100% see the lower teams doing this later in the season. Especially when engine/gearbox allocations start to get tight.

Start the Sprint just incase there's first lap chaos & you gain a bunch of places, but if you're still bottom 6 or so by lap 3 then surely "box box box you have a lose whajamiflip, we're retiring the car to be safe" gets very tempting.
