The Steam reviews for Star Wars Jedi Survivor are mostly negative, because the comments are focusing on the bugs and performance issues of the game. I guess it is a... "trend" nowadays? That PC games are no longer shipped without performance issues. Bug fixes can be done easily via patches after the game is launched, so perhaps there are less incentives for the developers to polish the game before publishing first (?).

@legendwyn I think games have become a lot more complicated and harder to develop overtime so bug fixing/perf optimizations can take a lot of bandwidth of a team. It's not uncommen for this to be overlooked and rushed at the end of the dev cycle. On PC there's a lot more variables than on console so not always possible to test 100% of the cases?

@jonathansty

Oh ya, I guess you are spot on regarding the variables. Hopefully the gamers can be more understanding regarding this.

@legendwyn Hah, I don't see that happening though. The vocal part of gamers usually isn't very understanding from my experience.
@legendwyn I think it's more EA (publisher) than Respawn (developer). Respawn is an excellent studio so my only guess that this keeps happening with the Jedi games is EA or Lucasarts rushing them. And the industry in general just hasn't caught up with the ballooned dev cycle of modern triple A games hence. Games take a long time to make and there's no way of knowing what will come up so setting a deadline years before it releases is just stupid.

@FreiGuy86

Apparently #EAgames was willing to postpone the launch further but Stig Asmussen (director, Respawn Entertainment) thought his team can get it done in time. But yeah, perhaps there's a need to revisit the current dynamic between developer and publisher.

Respawn Entertainment is doing their best to patch though, and I hope the gamers can recognise the developers effort. Jedi Survivor is a really good game.
