1/ tentative, immature #economic thoughts from yours truly (ala #socialism, #communism, #capitalism).

Consider this both a humble proffering of theory and an openness to learn.

I have been hesitant to discuss my economic #philosophy for two reasons:

1. I don't consider myself well-educated on the subject
2. There seem to be three major positions (socialism, communism, and capitalism) and I don't find myself comfortably fitting into any of them.

Perhaps there is another ism I'm missing

@davidshq we are interested in your #economics #philosophy . I am sure other are as well. A form of #anarchism and voluntary socialism is called #LibertarianSocialism (not to be confused with the abomination libertarianism) where goods are freely shared and given without coercion. Such a society would need to be "evolved" beyond who we are now, where we don't fear scarcity, free of primitive drives of survival and power, and driven by #compassion and #caring for all things.

@noself Thanks! I'll look into Libertarian Socialism, it sounds interesting. I like your emphasis on evolving. Part of what I'd like to do (with search) is build a business that exists within the current climate but behaves differently.

I think others are already doing this - as I mentioned through nonprofits, coops, stewardships, etc.

@davidshq Does federated space have a search engine/browser? I know there are search engines that don't exploit the person using them but haven't heard of any associated with the fediverse. We humans do love our loyalties 😉 .

@noself Realized I never replied to this question. I'm assuming you mean web search as opposed to fediverse search (tootfinder.ch is one of several providers of the latter). In which case there are not a lot of solutions - yacy.net is probably the closest atm, presearch.com has the potential to be another but it's closed source currently.

I don't think I'd start by building a federated engine - too complex. But I do like the idea of supporting it over time.
