I'm no expert at #3dprinting, just started out a few months ago. This is my first roll of PET-G. When unrolling, the filament is sometimes stuck under 2 layers, tying up everything.
Is this normal? Is this something I should just expect on some rolls, or can I demand a refund?
It's a roll of Verbatim PET-G. I contacted 3djake, and they told me "Sorry, but it's a typical problem for FDM printers. Filament is machine wound, and the smallest unevenness can mean that the roll is not wound up properly. Unfortunately, this is only noticed during use."
Oh whelp.
I tried unwinding it and spooling it back on, but now I'm wary of printing larger stuff with this spool and leaving it unattended.
@yottamoto not normal at all. What brand is this? I'd recommend that you just cut the filament right on the spot it goes under, and unwind a couple of meters to see if the problem is solved (and then carefully rewind it again)

@yottamoto Absolutely not normal! Hope cutting (as suggested) or untangling the filament helps! Make sure that you clip the end when the filament is not in use, so that it doesn’t get tangled again

If the cutting/untangling doesn’t help, you can ask for refund if the seller allows it.

@yottamoto no that is not normal. I don’t know whether you would get a refund, but it’s worth a try.

@yottamoto
You should get in touch with the suppliers support. I'm sure they want to be informed about problems like this. Hopefully they will send a new role.

As @phranck already stated, this is a business killer. Nobody would buy roles that get stuck up while printing.

@yottamoto no, not normal, what brand?
@eljefedsecurit It's Verbatim. I assumed that it would be ok, but maybe just because I used their floppies back in the day.
