based on the sheer length of the list, and the relatively small timespan they picked up all those hobbies in, i think "they're happily mediocre at an awful lot of things" isn't an unreasonable read tho 
then again, maybe I'm just biased
and your interpretation still seems like fair, as I am also pretty sure that they'd be indeed happy with just doing whatever and not necessarily be good at it
