I updated my list of favourite #scifi #books !

And I'd love more recommendations in the 3 main categories: #solarpunk , #hopepunk and #afrofuturism

🙂

Updated my favourite #scifi list again!

And somehow I had forgotten to include my favourite #solarpunk story - a half-built garden - last time. Bit embarrassing. 😬

@lex

Nice overview. Quite a few titles I've already read, and also quite a few that can goon the To Be Read list. Either way I'm happy 😊
Thank you!

@fifischwarz

you're welcome, glad I could help! 🙂

@lex Kennst du folgende Bücher?
"Utopia 2048" von Lino Zeddies? https://linozeddies.de/utopia2048
"Tausend und ein Morgen" von Ilija Trojanow
Letzteres ist erst vor kurzem erschienen.
Welches deiner Lieblingsbücher würdest du empfehlen? Ich suche einen guten Roman, den es auch auf Deutsch gibt.

@linus_oep

@lex Thank you for the list, will check out the ones I have not read 😊. Not sure if you like Manga, I was recommended Yokohama kaidashi kikou some time ago and think it has a similar feel to Becky Chambers Monk and Robot books. Maybe that could be something for you, too.
@lex Have you read anything else by Ursula K. Le Guin? If not, I specially recommend Four Ways to Forgiveness. Anything in her Ekumen series is worth reading, actually.

@forameus

I started to read The Telling, but haven't finished it. I loved the dispossessed, but I have to say I didn't find it an easy read... I really have to focus when reading her books.

Will check out the ones you mentioned though, thanks!

OF ONE BLOOD by Pauline Hopkins is a sort of proto-Afrofuturist lost world adventure that's thoughtful, exciting, and hopeful even in the face of tragedy. It's also over a century old, so you can read it for free at Project Gutenberg: https://gutenberg.org/ebooks/69255

That said, there's a recent edition with extra context in the front and back matter, which I highly recommend if you want more sociohistorical context. https://www.penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/710584/of-one-blood-by-pauline-hopkins-introduction-by-minister-faust/9780262544290 . (I found a copy at my library.)

@lex I love this! And you've given me a few to add to my TBR. I used to annotate my recommended book list on my website, but now I just list the books. Consider adding Starhawk's The Fifth Sacred Thing to your list. Older, but she creates a realistic and possible #solarpunk city.
@lex Thanks for the great list! Given the broad range, I can also recommend "Ecotopia" and "Women at the edge of time". Both have a similar atmosphere and while they are technologically from a different era, the ideas still resonated with me.

@codezeilen

you're welcome!

thanks for the recommendations. Women at the edge of time was recommended to me a few times now, I'll make that the next one I'll read 🙂

@lex Unter #Klimazukunftsroman gibt es noch ein paar Buchempfehlungen zu dem Thema.
@lex Thank you so much for posting this list because I did not know Janelle Monae HAS WRITTEN A BOOK!!! 🤩
