"Why won't you pay the $8?"
Five months ago, before she died, my 91-year-old great-grandmother described to me how, while her mother was taken to the gas chambers by the Nazis, she asked her mother, "Where are you going?" and "When are you coming back?" She never saw her mother again. I was literally shaking while I was listening.
Now, when I checked Twitter, I bumped into two accounts, one "verified," and the other one lost their "verification" yesterday. I'll just leave it right here...

@thistimeforsure @DavidSchwartz The reason the blue check was introduced first and foremost was that twitter was risking being held liable for libel if no reasonable steps were taken to ensure no one could impersonate public figures to damage their reputation.

The question of our time. I've known enough ppl like him and my guess is that he is completely stupid and incapable of logic, holding two completely opposite views at once, not realising why his entourage is hand wriggling at him, unable to foresee the big picture and conduct a reflection of more than two steps.

@DavidSchwartz Holy fuck, I've checked the account and it is a proper Nazi fest! Please, anyone in Germany still on Twitter: report the account, get the receipts and report it to the police.
And any journo who ever get asked "do you have any proof there's more hate on twitter" like this poor BBC guy, they should have a peek.
@DavidSchwartz Writing is as close to a profession as I get, but I can't convey 'I am at a loss for words' and give it the same impact I feel in my heart.
I'm happy I found my way to Mastodon, but watching the well get poisoned again and again over on Twitter is truly heartbreaking.
@DavidSchwartz Today in Brazil will be a vote in the national congress on the accountability of tech giants for the content published by their users.
Google, Meta, Twitter, etc. are making a massive campaign to influence people that this Law is harmful to them (them people, not them the tech giants...)
