RT @CoriBush
In 2023, over 400 anti-trans bills have been introduced across our country.

We need to call it what it is: a deliberate campaign by the GOP to erase trans people.

It’s an attack on human rights.

@rbreich
Why, of all things, are they spending so much energy on this? There's always stated reasons, but why are they really(tm) doing this? With guns, it's for the donors... Why this?
@moormaan I can only assume they've focus-grouped it to death and have determined that is a consistently winning wedge issue. It has delivered them everything from school boards to super-majority state trifectas. Why would they back off now? I mean aside from the obvious bigotry and immorality of what they are doing of course
@moormaan @rbreich It’s all about power and control.
@rbreich If you're going to call it what it is, the word you are looking for is GENOCIDE.
@rbreich If they dedicated this much time and energy to governing, maybe many problems could get solved.
@rbreich it’s straight outta Putin’s Playbook!

@rbreich It's because they do not concede that trans people exist. They view the whole thing as some twisted and probably satanic ideology that infects people. Their fix for it is to be cruel to them because it shows their deity that they hate the things they think it hates. They also like to imagine themselves as superior and aloof, not taken by "fads" in culture. So they are there to say, "OK, you've had your fun. Now back to reality."

Cruelty is the point. It is intentional.

@rbreich but we're not going to let them win.
@rbreich THAT'LL fix the economy. (lol)
@rbreich My son works in a jail in Cayuga County in NY State. He got his first trans person and didnt know how to deal with it. He had to go to the sheriff & let steam off. He thinks that the sex of a person should always be what your born as....(needless to say he's a republican). But after the sheriff had a talk with him he's ok with it now.
@rbreich The GOP is basically an attack on human rights in political party form, and has been for more than a decade now.
