Does everyone know about Reynaud's syndrome?

It is poor circulation in fingertips and toes, extremities.

For me it's in my fingertips.
They turn white, cold and numb.

Many people who have Ehlers Danlos, EDS, also experience this.

Look it up if you get white, icy fingertips that take a long time to warm up.

Very important to WEAR GLOVES when it's chilly.

Extended loss of circulation can lead to permanent damage.

@Moonbeam I used to have this level of poor circulation. It stopped when I added seaweed to my diet. I’m not saying it would cure your problem as I don’t think I had Reynaud’s, but it might be worth a try.
@Moonbeam also wear double socks so your toes don’t go purple. Mine do.
@PhilippaB @Moonbeam For me it's wool socks and shearling slippers. A second pair of socks is too tight on me, and cuts off what little circulation there is.
@callisto @PhilippaB @Moonbeam does anybody have the problem that when you put gloves or socks, the extremities *stays cold inside* and it doesn't help even if you blow hot air or apply friction ? I don't know if i have a condition or if it simply is bad circulation but it always has been very difficult in winter because of that...
@Orin @callisto @PhilippaB
That's how it is for me. Read up on Reynauds syndrome. It takes a while to warm my fingers back up.

@Moonbeam @callisto @PhilippaB thank's for the advice ! I think i already encountered that name and discarded it but i don't remember why. I will check again. ☆

[Edit: i know why, my fingers never went blue and it's always the complete hand or feet, not parts of it. But it's still good to know!]

@Orin @Moonbeam @callisto I have similar issues. I have woolly socks too. And lambs wool slippers.

I like to have a hot water bottle in winter

@Orin @PhilippaB @Moonbeam Yup. My fingers and toes don't generate enough heat to warm themselves unless I'm really exerting myself. Mostly I need heated gear.

If it's your whole hand/foot I'd get it checked out. That could be an issue with circulation in your legs and arms, which is potentially serious.

@callisto @PhilippaB @Moonbeam it's mostly the extremities (fingers, toes, nose, ears..) that hurts but yeah the hands/feets are often entirely cold. Even right now and it's not even winter nor cold here!

I told it to my cardiologist and he said "it's common among women". But given how he simply left me there with my cardiac symptoms saying that "it's a consequence of fatigue not a cause well goodbye"... well.

And my gp is a bit overhelmed by all the chronic fatigue symptoms. It's complicated.

@Moonbeam Yes, I have Reynauds!

We're just heading into winter here in Australia so that means I am going to be wearing many layers for the duration!

But as someone else has said, my hands and feet will still be cold inside gloves, etc.

Last year I discovered something everyone else probably knew about decades ago, but it has changed my life and made me warm!

Electric blankets & throws! If you're sitting on the sofa you have an electric throw, if you're in bed you will be toasted! 🛏️ 😄

@autisticbookclub @Moonbeam Same. My hands and feet do NOT get warm until something physically warms them. I could wear socks for hours and still have cold feet until I actually put them in a hot bath, etc. It’s ridiculous.
