That the rest of Europe has completely ignored the fact the Hungary became a fascist dictatorship is really beyond me.

Ongoing EU procedures for violation of rule of law in Hungary barely counts as "completely ignoring". At the same time Hungary is a full member state of EU who can, and does, block various EU initiatives that require equivocal agreement e.g. to support Ukraine. Therefore Hungary does have a leverage over EU and it does use it for its benefit.
