When Republicans are in power, they rack up giant deficits, mainly by cutting taxes on corporations and the wealthy.

Then when Democrats take the reins, Republicans blame them for being spendthrifts.

It's the same story every time.

It’s the same story with Conservatives and Liberals in Canada. Year after year, poll after poll, people will swear Conservatives are better at handling “the economy” — yet decades of data say otherwise. The myth persists.

The funny thing is they don’t even try, that’s why there’s accounting data that shows how they’ve managed to increase costs for everyone except the very wealthy whenever they hold power. But…they spin incessantly about the other guys being poor money managers, and people believe it. Few seem to ask themselves, “How do know if what they’re saying is true?” So there’s no need to use creative accounting.
