Now I know why old people (like myself) are so cranky all the time - it’s from watching a lifetime of injustices perpetuated on those who can’t fight back.
I’m not getting more conservative the older I get, I’m getting more angry at the bloody hateful conservatives 😑

@BrisVegas the ironic thing about it is, by pursuing such an extreme agenda, the right actually manages to create more leftwing activism.

Not that they care, but they are working against their own goals by creating more leftists and making themselves irrelevant with the youth + people getting older and more liberal due to their obsession with hurting our society's most vulnerable.

They are a minority party, and will keep shrinking as time goes by. Unless they are allowed to subvert democracy.

@grammasaurus @BrisVegas every time I hesitate to type 'fascists' in a post, I have to remind myself that this is what we are dealing with and that it has to be soberly assessed to be confronted and defeated.

I must put down my old centrist hesitancy of being too hyperbolic, because if you look at the evidence, the right is marching forward with fascist projects everywhere you look.

I’m so, so angry and heartbroken I stopped participating in a family group text with my Trump-voting sibs, regardless to their beliefs on specific issues. I also won’t be traveling to see them this summer. They share blame in all this.

@BrisVegas For me, it’s more about being pissed at the rich people who (almost) always get their way, than it is about the working people who support them. The rich don’t give a shit about assault weapons, a woman’s right to choose, lgbtq+ issues, or anything else except to keep the working folks fighting against each other while they continue to gain power and money.

@BrisVegas As I get older (I'm 55) I get irritated by the people that want to stop others doing things rather than seeking alternate solutions.

I regard all politicians as morally suspect until proven otherwise.

As far as transgender and bathroom bans go. I say ban those nasty communal bathrooms and make every bathroom unisex single occupancy with a row of them to cater to everybody. Inside each one there should be - handbasin, changing table, toilet, urinal and they should all be disabled-friendly. More than that, the emergency pull cord should go all the way to the floor, not just to waist height.

I see no problem with transgender and people wanting to live as the opposite gender. The fa'afafine of Samoa manage it quite well.

I find Conservatives, Liberals and Democrats equally tiresome.

@BrisVegas There are quite a few different studies about it actually across several countries. What researchers can't agree on is whether the effect is due to aging or is just generational - which could only be determined by tracking generations over time instead of comparing them in the here and now.
