I feel like it's worth reminding people that Citizens United, during which Justice Thomas, we have learned, was very obviously on the take, was a 5-4 vote.
@mhoye Let us also ponder the fate of Bush v. Gore 2000, also decided by a 5-4 vote.
@dl @mhoye was just thinking about that.

@dl @mhoye Oof.

Anyone know of some great alt-universe fanfic of a post-Gore victory in 2000?

@h3h @dl @mhoye No, but my somewhat dystopian “alternate view” of actual history gives insights on where the Supreme Court’s Illuminati are taking us soon. So, please read this illustrated e-book that mixes documented history, a contemporary parable, and apocalyptic prophecies from Revelation (including ones hidden in popular rock songs):https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MWV3TQL

@mhoye This is why he never asks questions, he always knows what vote was ordered.
@mhoye @rysiek In “The Pelican Brief” they murdered justices they didn’t like. Author John Grisham didn’t know you could just buy them with vacations.

@DanMorgan @mhoye @rysiek Reality is always more mundane. Just look at how we let any idiot have clearance, and how easily it is to pay someone off to become a double agent.

Not tinfoil hat ranting. Look at the biggest double agents in recent US history, how easily they got away with for a very long time, and how cheap they were.

I’d be astounded if not at least 5 out of the 6 far right judges aren’t dirty.

@breadbin @DanMorgan @mhoye @rysiek “Follow the money”: Every political conspiracy is about money. “The love of money is the root of all evil.” The Bible, 1 Timothy 6:10. Thus, the R&B singers the O’Jays warned us when they quoted that Bible verse in the theme song of Trump’s show “The Apprentice,” but no one listened. Folks were so busy being greedy that they followed Trump and his judges toward doomsday: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MWV3TQL

@alysondecker So he sits, like a smug bump on a log. His colleagues, parties to proceedings nor the system in which he occupies a position of ultimate responsibility, can do diddly squat. Seriously, the US is in distinct peril of disappearing (and I apologise for what follows) up its own arse.

@mhoye The real smoking gun was the Bob McDonnell case. We convicted our Governor of bribery, but Thomas & Co. threw out the law. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/06/27/483711311/supreme-court-throws-out-former-virginia-governor-bob-mcdonnells-conviction
@Virginicus that was a unanimous verdict, though, not one where Thomas was a deciding vote.
@mhoye True; there is no disagreement on the Court about whether rich people should be able to lavish public officials with luxuries.
@mhoye @Virginicus That actually raises questions about the integrity of the entire Supreme Court, and about whether they are ALL interpreting the law to legalize “gifts” to themselves and to their favored politicians from rich patrons from across the ideological spectrum. I don’t know if that’s a fact, but it’s a worrisome possibility.
@mhoye @fifilamoura we have to ask about Bush v Gore as well.
@mhoye And if you believe Thomas is the only justice on the take I have a lovely bridge for sale at a very reasonable price.
