Advocates of “Green Growth” promise a painless transition to a post-carbon future. But what if the limits of renewable energy require sacrificing consumption as a way of life?

A must-read about the impossibility of green growth and #degrowth as the only viable option forward:

@ChristianeKliemann That was a really interesting read, thanks for linking to it.

We're doomed, basically, aren't we?! Is there any way to turn around that political dependence on 'growth' being the only thing that counts as success? How can we make #degrowth fashionable enough to bring about lasting change? 🤔

@stephaniejne I refuse thinking that we are doomed, as the future is always unknown and depends on what we do today. I try to do my best to work toward something called "social tipping points" which might create support for degrowth-based policies
@ChristianeKliemann It's a question of how to push towards these social tipping points fast enough though.
