Supreme Court Justice is implicated in major bribery scandal. There’s no other way to describe it.

He took the money, concealed the transactions, and ruled again and again in Crow’s interest. https://www.propublica.org/article/clarence-thomas-harlan-crow-real-estate-scotus

Harlan Crow Bought Property from Clarence Thomas. The Justice Didn’t Disclose the Deal.

The transaction is the first known instance of money flowing from Crow to the Supreme Court justice. The sale netted the GOP megadonor two vacant lots and the house where Thomas’ mother was living.

At some point it will be realized that Clarence Thomas’s mother is living rent-free on Harlan Crow’s property.
@JamesGleick I wonder if Thomas sold his mother, too…😏
@JamesGleick right now scores of politicians whose spouses real estate & stock portfolios have mysteriously grown exponentially faster than a those owned by a leprechaun are getting really nervous
Clarence Thomas’ Mom Definitely Still Lives in the House the Billionaire Bought

We were there just a couple of weeks ago.

@JamesGleick Not just rent-free, but with various capital upgrades.
@JamesGleick Meanwhile, Harlan Crow is living rent-free in everyone’s head.

@JamesGleick anyone know if it's possible to determine if Crow is paying an annual gift tax for her? The limit is $17k/yr atm and average annual rent for Savannah is at least $19k/yr (I imagine that's a basic apartment which this isn't, but that wouldn't bring the rent below the gift ceiling…)

The question is ,Is this money laundering .How much did he recieve?
@JamesGleick
A powerful conservative is involved in a major scandal. In other words, it's Thursday.
@JamesGleick We have an odd situation in the US where behaviors that would unambiguously be called bribery in other countries end up being swept under the rug as legitimate lobbying.

@JamesGleick

I don't know for fact that Harlan Crow paid off Brett Kavanaugh's $200K of debt, I'm just sayin'.

@JamesGleick

Gee will some one buy my house for more than its worth, let me live in it, pay the taxes, pay for improvements, etc. I will be their life time friend. #thomas

@JamesGleick What Al Capone would have said if we asked him to resign... why expect anything less from a Republican?

@Quest4Blackbeard @JamesGleick
There's failing to conduct oneself so as to give not even the impression of impropriety, and there's doing an actual crime.

For one, you can still refuse to resign. For the other, you can be impeached.

@JamesGleick Does anyone believe Crow would hang out with someone who “looks like Thomas”? Really?
@JamesGleick And it's less about the money than the fact that Crow was Thomas's mother's landlord, spending tens of thousands to fix up her home and incidentally retaining the ability to evict her if Thomas didn't rule how he likes.
@JamesGleick
This okay, because Trump did the same thing but nothing happened to him. Thomas has always been flaunting his power for reward and nothing ever happens. No one has the balls to do anything about it. IMPEACH the ass.
@Nostradamus @JamesGleick No WONDER he was so quiet for so long!!
@JamesGleick well, if he didn't his mom would be homeless.

@JamesGleick

What does it take to impeach a SCOTUS justice?

@JamesGleick But try to see the positive side of it, maybe it is now a situation, where a discussion about life time supreme court judges can begin....In other places in the world supreme court judges stay at the court after differing rules and times!
@JamesGleick And nothing will be done about it because the system was established by the Founders expecting supremely ethical behavior by the justices, so only the Supreme Court polices itself (or these days, doesn't)
