The difference between NPR and Twitter is that NPR is intentionally a non-profit.
#NPR
@MissingThePt LOL! That wasn't very nice! πŸ˜… Pobre Elon.
@MissingThePt All Things Considered... That's not the only difference.

I’m thinking about what the other differences are. Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me.
@MissingThePt Especially as I suddenly can't reply to anything over there. Another glitch.
@MissingThePt It eventually resolves itself. Still, annoying.

@MissingThePt One of them is a media organization that took in $1.89 billion in government funding last year... and the other one is NPR.

Who is financing Elon Musk's $44 billion deal to buy Twitter?

Elon Musk has pledged to in equity and debt financing for his acquisition of Twitter (TSLA.O), which covers the $44 billion price tag and closing costs.

@norootcause $2.265 billion when you include the Qataris as well as the Saudis
@MissingThePt
@MissingThePt honestly I don't care if some software that provides interactions and propagates information being true or not, non-profit or not, I care about competence
@MissingThePt NPR also tries to be set-unobjective, sometimes, OMG give me a break. Twitter, on the other hand, is now all about what its overlord defines as good/bad, and his judgment is pretty biased.
@MissingThePt took me a second to get that, but Musk is gonna need the burn ointment here. If he has any money left to buy some...

@MissingThePt They’re also not run by a fascist.
@MissingThePt Pretty sure NPR has had more profitable years by far than Twitter. Check the 990s.
@MissingThePt I have spent most of my career in non-profits, mostly large and well-funded ones. But I did work for one "for-profit" company that went bust a few years after I left. (Not my fault, but I did see the writing on the wall, which was part of my reason for leaving.)

@MissingThePt And they have been severed, unlike other craven media.
