When billionaires take control of vital communication platforms, it’s not a win for free speech. It’s a win for oligarchy.

And when those billionaires justify their business motives by citing “freedom,” what they actually seek is freedom from accountability.

Don't be fooled.

@rbreich newspapers were taken over before Twitter
@rbreich his bogus free speech claim was toast as soon as people were dropping the N word with zero consequences but I got Perma banned for calling a country singer a redneck for insulting "race or religion"
@rbreich Governments need to get off Twitter now.
@DaniEhm @rbreich the worst thing to happen to the world was that the old guard managed to recruit young people to take over for their lack of understanding of the internet before the next generation was ready to lead
@rbreich I agree. I've often see you draw attention to problems that are being ignored, which I have appreciated. Are you encouraging your many followers to move to platforms that are not controlled by oligarchs?
@rbreich we have to come together and build a way to stop them! #WeAreTheGuardrails is a great start! Building a coalition to save democracy! We’re not going to be fooled by their Russian lies.
@rbreich agreed with this a hundred percent.
@rbreich TWW: The messenger is not the origin, look past and expose why they would deceive. Beware the overt deception repeated.
*Once discovered what to do about deception and corruption becomes the more important. I had a simple boatyard rule: ‘Don’t come to me with a situation and no solution’. That was long ago and I’ve mellowed but the rule still applies. I read / hear much in media that alerts me to horrific situations, seldom with well thought out and projected solutions. OWOP
@rbreich Is it only freedom from accountability? Isn't it more they strive for? Freedom from essentially everything? The rule of law? Morals? Social norms? Society? #Musk's mate #Thiel in the past openly followed his dream of being free from any possible boundaries and when he said #democracy and freedom are not compatible, what he meant was that democracy limits the freedom of sociopaths like himself.
@rbreich You can’t side with structural support of “billionaires” and the interests of the people, they are diametrically opposed.

@voron @rbreich

Fair prosperity is actually much cheaper than what we do now, people are going to be shocked.

Keeping billionaires is ridiculously expensive.

@kevinrns @rbreich It’s going to be very, very hard to get there

@voron @rbreich

Win elections with very popular policies.

@kevinrns @rbreich Have to actively contest “project red map” and actually run on economics not gop lite economics more like things like this 👇

To Win in Rural Areas, Democrats Need to Tackle Market Consolidation

The party is losing those voters by not going after agricultural monopolies.

Washington Monthly

@rbreich
Yes an oligarchy...

Therefore, it should be put in the hands of all.
Democratic and open to all.

But we will not see that in an overly capitalistic world.

Hardly a person would be able in a certain power position to make this task alone correctly.

Too much power corrupts everyone, only the democratic way of many would be a right solution.

@rbreich
Vital? NO! That is a big misunderstanding, and the cause of the problem.

If everyone left Twitter today, communication would improve!

It's just those people still on Twitter are actually showing support and doing the damage. The gullible and the malicious.
