"The bill — HB0322/SB274 — would mandate a plan with crisis intervention, emergency response and emergency management."
"That bill passed in the House 95 to 4, with those who voted against saying it didn't really answer what the state would do about tightening gun laws."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Rep. Justin Jones was expelled from the Tennessee legislature on Thursday afternoon.
This comes from a 72-25 vote, nearly on party lines.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Rep. Justin Pearson was the second lawmaker expelled from the legislature on Thursday.
"Tennessee House Republicans voted Thursday to expel Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville) and Rep. Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) from the legislature after they led an anti-gun protest on the House floor last week.
A resolution to expel Rep. Gloria Johnson (D-Knoxville) failed by a single vote, with a 65-30 tally."
WKRN: "Several members of the Metro City Council say they will vote to reappoint Jones as soon as the council meets again, including Bob Mendes and Freddie O’Connell, who tweeted that the expulsion “is an affront both to lives lost and the will of the voters.”
The Metro Council will have a special meeting on Monday, April 10 to discuss filling the now-vacant District 52 seat."

"A growing list of Metro councilmembers is supporting sending expelled Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville) back to the state House."
-
"Mayor John Cooper, who has no official role in the appointment, also criticized the expulsion.
“I’m proud that Metro Council is meeting Monday to fill the vacancy left in Nashville by today’s vote, and I believe they’ll send [Jones] right back to continue serving his constituents,” Cooper said."
"Twenty-three members of the 40-seat Metropolitan Council confirmed to NBC News or on social media that they plan to vote to reinstate Jones to the Legislature."
"Marcy Ingram, a Shelby County assistant attorney, told The Commercial Appeal she knew of no legal reason why the commission could not reappoint Pearson.
The Commercial Appeal reached out to all 13 commissioners to see whether they would support Pearson’s reappointment. Most did not respond."
However, Commissioner Britney Thornton, a Democrat, was unequivocal in her support of Pearson."

"No One Should Be That Shocked by What’s Happening in Tennessee
I covered the statehouse for years. It’s been heading in this direction for a while."
"The place has been defined by partisan vitriol, pique, scandal, racism and Olympic-level pettiness for years."
