this is so hilarious -- elon turned a service that 99% ignored on launch "Substack Notes" into a legit contender overnight, b/c he pissed off scores of substack authors all at once. brilliant. it's like watching a business school case study on how to make money on the internet
@spencerdailey I used to scoff at people who claimed that #ElonMusk was deliberately killing #Twitter. But his behavior is increasingly hard to explain any other way
@BruceMirken @spencerdailey either that, or he's got an ego the size of Jupiter and a cultist fan base that loves it every time he does dumb things that make other people mad
@spencerdailey so true, absolute Streisand Effect in action. I’d never heard of Notes until all this.
@davidslifka @spencerdailey if you restrict the ‘Streisand Effect’ to using legal action to accidentally draw attention to something you wished was unknown, you could probably coin the ‘Elon Effect’ to mean helping a competing business by accidentally publicising its existence in an effort to damage it.

“@wongmjane Substack was co-founded by a former Musk employee who wrote a fawning book about Tesla. Anything they do is controlled opposition”

Twitter

@spencerdailey

Musk said he wanted to buy Substack. The Substack board of directors saw how much Musk paid for Twitter and would thank Musk profusely for a similar deal. They can get rich off of fascists' ambitions.

Put that in your pipe.

@spencerdailey I honestly didn’t even know Notes existed until my Substack newsletter links were banned but NOW…! Fuck you, Elon!

@spencerdailey

I did not even know about substack before EM blocked it.

Now I'm subscribed to it.

🤣

@spencerdailey
The problem with Elon (and all billionaires) is they believe their own bullshit.
