Joan Albright@cam My two characters who are used to life chucking lemons at them trade banter all the time, while the newbies to all this grief and chaos look at them like they're crazy. Adds an extra layer.
jlizhenry@cam it depends on the play and the character, I think. In one play I wrote a sardonic hospice nurse who's mourning her brother while her friend, mourning the same loss, becomes burnt out; in another, a character with ptsd deals very differently with her grief. It's a really interesting question to think about when developing a character, even if the piece of writing isn't "about" grief.
